Raja Rithvik, studying in the class IV of Orchids-The International School, has clinched the gold medal in the under-9 Rapid event of the Asian Schools Chess Championship-2012 held at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on December 15. He swept all the six rounds to log in the maximum six points in the prestigious Asian event that was organized by Asian Chess Federation and had entries from ten nations. With an international rating of 1536, he made a sensational victory over much higher rated A. Nodirbek (Rating-1932) of Uzbekistan in the final round and clinched the Asian Rapid title. Celebrating his victories in the morning assembly has become a common occasion of pride in Orchids.
