“The
simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing
in prayer.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
On 22nd February (Friday) students of
class I to V went on a field trip to NachiketaTapovan(school for under privileged
children). This was trip to educate children about the spirit of giving, make
them think about others that are less fortunate than us.
For many, it’s difficult to understand what it’s like to
truly be poor. One of the first lessons in teaching kids about giving is for
them to understand poverty. Learning to care for or share with others can be
difficult for young children because they are so focused on themselves. But,
thinking about others—their feelings and their needs—is a critical social
skill. Very few young children know when someone is unhappy or hurt.
Orchids International School has given agood opportunity
to the children to learnabout sharing and caring in the way of kindness,
generosity, unselfishness and sacrifice through this field trip.As part of the preparation for the
event, children were encouraged to choose gently used items that they can pass
on.
Students of orchids, as soon as they
haveentered Nachiketa, they were very happy to be there and get involved with the
children of Nachiketa. They were very excited and donated their toys, books,
clothes, school bags and lunch boxes etc to them. The children of Nachiketa were happy after
receiving such useful things.
It was a touching and wonderful
experience for the students of Orchids. Children realized and learnt that it’s
beautiful to feel the joy of giving.
