Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum

On 23rd August (Friday) 2013, students of class I to V went on a field trip to Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum. This was a trip to educate children by throwing light on the tribal heritage and a way of life which is simple yet vibrant.
Located right in the heart of the city near Banjara hills, celebrating the aboriginals who lived on this very hill, is the Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum. It is dedicated to 35 tribes that inhabit the state of Andhra Pradesh and intends to showcase their culture and heritage through various displays. Spread across three floors, the museum has a detailed information kiosk that gives information about all the tribes in India. Adorning the walls inside and outside the museum are trademark with white on red tribal motifs.
The museum brings together culture, lifestyle, customs and beliefs of the various tribes hailing from different districts of Andhra Pradesh. Some of the tribes represented here are Kondareddi, Bagata and Hill Reddi. The tribes constitute 6.59 per cent of the population of Andhra Pradesh. Stories are told through pictures, literature and the figurines that are displayed. The library is well equipped.
It was a memorable and wonderful experience for the students of Orchids – The International School.
