One Nation Reading Together ( 25/11/11)
Orchids-The International School participated in the programme, ‘One Nation Reading Together’ an initiative of Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. on Nov. 25,’11. It aims at inculcating and promoting reading habit among children. Orchidians joined the children across the country, taking part in the reading activity. Students of all the classes either read a book of their choice or wrote a book review during the specified time. Besides reading activity, the students of classes I-V had ‘Bookmarker making’ competition also. The entire school was silently engaged in experiencing the pleasures of reading.

Book Marker Making Competition (25/11/2011)
A Book marker making competition was organized on 25/11/2011 for the students of classes I to V. The theme of this activity was to make creative book markers. The main idea behind this activity was to promote imagination and creativity among students. The competition was well received with much enthusiasm by the students.
This competition not only provided an opportunity to our students to showcase their talents, but also acted as a great podium to discuss nuance of art.

9th Junior Leadership Contest (19/11/11)
Everyone has an urge to excel and a will to lead. It was proved at the 9th Junior Leadership Contest held at Orchids-The International School on 19/11/11.
The aim of the Contest was to motivate the students to become effective and successful leaders in the future. The Contest was devised on the theme of leadership traits for junior school children based on the strong psychological foundation. Participants were put through specially designed tests to assess their IQ, academic achievement, physical fitness, communication skills and dynamism.
Principal of Orchids, Mrs Mona Mehdi declared the contest open in the morning. Additional Commandant Moosa Bin Ibrahim(SAR) was the Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony. All the participants took part in all the events with gusto and will to win.
The first, second and third prizes in individual positions were bagged by Nikhil Jain of Oakridge International School(Khajaguda), Sreeja of Bharathi Vidya Bhavan (Jubliee Hills), Aditi Kodipadi of Delhi Public School(Gachibowli) respectively.

Children’s Day
Orchids – The International School celebrated children’s Day. It can be described as a fun and frolic day with the teachers performing for the students with all their love and affection. The students couldn’t help but tap to the music the teachers performed on. The teachers sang, danced, recited and performed individually and in groups too – all for us. Our Principal participated very actively in the day’s events to our pleasant surprise. Overall, it was a pleasant memory that we students can never forget………..

Field trip to different places of worship
India is the land of unity in diversity. Hyderabad is a place of different cultures and religions which unite people together and inculcate the feelings of brotherhood. In order to uphold this beauty of oneness, the Orchidians of classes 1to 5 were taken on a field trip to different places of worship located at BHEL Township on 11-11-11.
Children were enthusiastic to visit different places of worship and imbibed feelings of unity. The children were excited to learn about different religions and their importance. On the whole, they developed the feeling of oneness and enjoyed the trip a lot.Tuesday, 8 November 2011

Card Making Competition - 4/11/11
Orchids-The International school has conducted card making competition on 4/11/11 for classes I to V and theme was Christmas or New year.
Students were enthusiastic to decorate the cards with all glitters by using their cognitive skills, and made colourful greeting cards.

Vigilance Awareness week - 31/10 - 5/11/11
The week beginning from 31st October every year should be observed as the vigilance Awareness Week to commemorate the birthday of the Bismarck of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel who is known for representing the best values in the Indian tradition so far as governance is concerned.
Corruption has become the greatest social evil that confronts our society today. It has a detrimental impact on the society and hinders the country’s progress and prosperity. Citizens of our country need to be aware of this persisting public menace and find ways to put a curb on it.
Orchids – The International School has observed the Vigilance Awareness week. To create awareness among students, the week started with a brief talk on Mahatma Gandhi and his famous Salt March from Sabarmati to Dandi. Students of class VIII actively participated in the presentation.
A skit on exploitation of farmers was also performed.
Next day, the presentation was on fighting for Democracy by Aung San Suu Kyi in myanmar by the students of VIII and IX classes .
On Thursday, a skit was presented by IX class students on corruption in Govt. offices. With the help of a reporter, the corrupt officer gets caught in the camera and is handed over to anti-corruption bureau. A nice presentation indeed.
